Pardon the interruption in blog posts–I have been doing construction for a friend. But, I did want to say the 1243 Hanson sold in September to a wonderful family! I drive by the two, new homes that we built and see how well the new owners are caring for the properties, how the whole street looks better, and I know we did a good thing. Bruce’s Park continues to move forward!
This is also a reminder to my Bruce’s Park neighbors to attend the next Civic League meeting Thursday, January 26 at the Jacox Elementary School auditorium. See you there!
Greetings on this weathery evening (everyone in this plane is experiencing some kind of weather, right?)! Just wanted to tell you about our New Construction Home in Norfolk, VA!
Our sister company, Sound Choice Investments, Inc. , just put 1243 Hanson Ave Norfolk VA on the the market earlier this week. It is a beautiful, well built, new construction home with 2,268 SF of living space, 300 SF attached garage, 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, front porch, 2 rear decks, dual zone HVAC, spacious kitchen with granite counter tops, rectangular tile flooring, soft-close cabinetry, 4-piece stainless steel Samsung energy efficient appliance package, large bedrooms including a master with two walk-in closets, deck and tile and granite 2-sink master bath and…well I’m getting too excited about it so I better stop. The lot is over sized, too!
Incidentally, I want to publicly thank our builders, Montgomery Builders, for doing such a great job on this house, very nice work!
This Home is Listed for Sale at $229,900!
This is a great price for this home–you will not find a nicer home than this for under $230,000. If you’d like to see it, please call the best Realtor I know, Liz Schuyler, at 757-235-0274.
That’s all I have for now, and thanks for reading!
What am I thinking today to improve my mind? How can I make my mind strong to create the world I want to live in? Practice, Grasshopper!
Forgive me for not having the exact reference and for mis-quoting in a big way, but this re-minds me of one of the Great Teacher’s responses when asked how to achieve spiritual mindedness– “Attention,” the Teacher responded. The student asked for further explanation. “Attention, attention” said the Teacher. Again, the student asked what exactly was meant by that to which the Teacher said, “Attention, attention, attention!”
Attention means focus, which means aiming your mind in the right direction and keeping it there. What do you think about all day? Positive life-affirming things like Harmony, Light, spiritual Power, Love, Beauty? Or do other thoughts occupy the space in your mind? I can tell you from my own experience that it is EASY to have my mind occupied by inane thoughts ad infinitum. On and on they go as if they have a life of their own. But they do not! We all have an incredible gift, the gift of mind that if pointed in the right direction can provide an awesome connection with the spiritual universe!
I am a neophyte in this practicing daily and whenever I can remember literally trying (and doing on occasion) to change my mind. Thinking in a certain way, like other behaviors, becomes habitual so to really change my mind I have to change my thinking habits. Meditation, prayer, good!
Some days I am good at it thinking that we are all a part of the whole and I mean the big WE, that is, everything is part of the whole. Thinking like this helps me to treat everyone and everything including myself with love and respect. The areas where I have made good progress….ummm 🙂 No, really I have made good progress in general about not judging people and looking for the good in every person or situation (see Monty Python’s “Life of Brian”, the song “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.” (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2Wx230gYJw)
The points on which I am working–driving and thinking kindly about other drivers–getting better at it! And losing my temper over stupid stuff (not that I want to lose my temper over other things!) I have made a habit out of this. The more ridiculous the circumstance the stupider I get.
Just a few thoughts, but don’t go away, there’s more! If you are interested in this kind of stuff, some authors to read include Thomas Troward (“The Edinburgh Lectures” is my favorite!), Charles Haanel, Rhonda Byrne. Some of their writings are on the web at The New Thought Library (http://www.newthoughtlibrary.com/).
As always, enjoy the day!
Paint is good in the great room! The knock-down finish on the walls looks good, too.
Everything is aligned well–this project at 1241 Hanson Avenue in Norfolk is humming along.
Oh, I almost forgot–Mike R. and I ran the Charlottesville Ten Miler Saturday, March 21! What a fine run. Congrats to all who did it!
She’s looking pretty basking in the sun! Spring is not too far away–Friday March 20 is the Vernal Equinox–four days by my figuring. This house sprung up just ahead of the earliest flowers, but just as pretty, don’t you think? The rough-in electrical and plumbing are done; insulation and drywall going in now!
On another note, the Charlottesville Ten Miler is this weekend, Saturday March 21 at 7:15 AM. Wish us all happiness and a great run!
This structure went up pretty quickly and has added a lot of value to the neighboring properties. We had our best people on it from the start and they put it together with skill and joie de vivre!
In an odd turn of events we at the beach found ourselves living in the northeast or some other northern clime this winter. I even considered getting a snow shovel! I mean what’s with all this white stuff? Where does it come from? Can I get some really good Sulawesi Toraja coffee in this place?
Nevertheless, I must say that it is quite beautiful here–the snow, the ice, the beach, the ocean…I trust all the wildlife is faring well!
I suppose that’s about it for now–thank you for reading and have a superfine day!
When I took these photos over the weekend most of the snow had melted. Now it’s snowing again! I thought I was living at the Beach, but apparently I was mistaken! I’ve run outdoors once in the last week-and-a-half. Thank goodness for treadmills! Just a quick side note…to keep my speed up I dangle a bottle of Sierra Nevada Torpedo Ale in front of me…whatever works, right?
We also learned that one of our dogs is a total fire hound. If not for the fireplace screen I’m sure he would be the fourth log on the fire. He wants to move to the Keys.
Yes, a roof is a good thing especially when cold things are falling from the sky (I don’t mean beer). The roof tends to keep the things under it dry, which is good. I was very clear with our builder, “We want one of those houses that keeps the stuff in it dry.” We are right on top of it. We are grateful for the roof!G
Sorry I must go–have to tie a bottle to the end of stick…
Oh, I almost forgot, there is a Bruce’s Park Civic League meeting at Jacox Elementary at 6 PM Thursday Feb. 26. Hope to see you there!
Hello Friends! Cold enough for ‘ya? At least I thought it was funny…
First floor framing is underway, and note the nice German Shepherd in the second two pics. His job is to ensure that snacks are delivered on time 🙂 All is going smoothly and we’re sending a big ‘thank you’ to Montgomery Builders for keeping this puppy on track.
As always, thanks for watching and enjoy the day!
Beautiful, no? I call it, “Cement in Ditch with Blue Recycling Container.”
But of course you all recognize the filled up hole upon which a house will sit. If not, see the previous post! There is a lot that goes into building a house, but truly, what is more important than a sturdy foundation on land that won’t sink? That is exactly what we have here at 1241 Hanson Avenue in metropolitan Norfolk, VA!
Thanks for your interest and have a totally deluxe day!
